Hi, I'm Natiya Ellison and I'm from Southeast High School. I'm going to be in the 10th grade this school year. This is my first year with the YAHL (Youth Action for Health Leadership) program, this was also my first year on the YAHL Leadership Team. I will be talking about the Elevate Student Health campaign. This campaign shows the importance of being healthy and how it can help you in the long run. I'm also going to be talking about why you should join the YAHL program as a young student or adult.
Physical activity and nutrition are important to me because it can help you stay fit and healthy while doing it. Physical Activity and nutrition have impacted me and my family by making us stronger and giving us more energy to do activities we like to do. My school's standards for Physical Activity are to have youth take Physical Education for two years to graduate. Another way is to play sports for two years. I think it’s important to have strong policies in place because it can keep others active and influence someone else to eat nutritious food too. This policy can keep everyone moving and healthy. This can make a stronger commitment or even state.
I think it's important for others to care about the policy's wellness because it could help their youth, students or future kids to stay healthy and strong. I have been staying involved in this by talking to my principal about healthier food selections for lunch and breakfast. I think youth can gain goals, help from loved ones, and strength. People can support this policy by signing up with the YAHL program and adults can take surveys. By taking these surveys, it helps the Elevate student Health campaign collect data of what we can do to make a change in the community.
