Support the Betterment of Our Youth

Hi, my name is Ty, I am a sophomore at Keys High School, and I have been in YAHL since 2023. In this blog post, I’m going to talk about how we can change our school health policies for the better!

Physical activity and nutrition are extremely important for the growth and sustainment of an active and healthy brain. The nutrition provided to us by my school is pretty good, considering that we have to have two fruits and vegetables, and we have access to a variety of healthy options. I feel like not all schools are as fortunate. The lower income areas, more so than our own, might not have good, readily available nutrition. Elevate Student Health, under YAHL, might just make the state take a second look towards those students' health.

Others should care about schools’ wellness policies because it impacts them, their children or someone they know. This issue, and the fact that we can change these policies together, was brought to attention by YAHL. All in all, these policy changes should be supported for the betterment of education and the well-being of children.
