Hello, my name is Morgan, and I am a junior at Tyrone Public Schools. YAHL’s Elevate Student Health campaign works with my school and others across Oklahoma to make sure our students have healthy options and clean water. To make that happen, we talk to principals and school board members about new policies based around having enough exercise in school and having healthy options to choose from. These things are more important than they seem, and we want our youth to strive for a better, healthier Oklahoma!
Throughout my experience with the two years I spent volunteering for YAHL, I have done two events. One was for the Elevate Student Health campaign, where we set up our table with swag, educated people on the topic of school wellness policies and collected surveys. The second event was Swap Up Day of Action. We sat at a lunch table with a Swap Up card game, iPads and we even wore silly hats. We got a lot of people to understand the importance of swapping up for nutritious foods, and it was very fun! I would recommend that everyone who has a chance to join YAHL or support the Elevate Student Health campaign should definitely do it and help make the change.
I already have 61 community service hours, and this next year I want to get to 100. YAHL really helps guide you in setting goals for yourself and pushes you to success! Elevate Student Health is my favorite campaign, and I can easily make goals and succeed with the help of my teammates.
